It was a highly polished wooden box - deceptively simple, large enough for a person to lie inside but more of a trunk than a coffin. The person needing healing would have a healing ceremony done then would lie down in the box and sleep - more than eight hours. They would come out healed.

Naturally, medical companies were interested but the owners of the box (there was only one, it was a fairly new development) refused to deal with them ... probably because it was faith- and religious-based, not drive by greed.

A couple of rich college boys, sons of a CEO who knew about box, found out that a classmate was going to be the subject of the healing ceremony. They found out where it would take place (one of the brothers was involved in a sexual relationship with a native American woman). After the ceremony was completed, when everyone was gone and the place was quiet, they went in and stole the box ... and the occupant.

We went after them, we being friends and family of the man in the box. We tracked the boys down to their home and retrieved the box, disabling the brother who was guarding it. We took the box out of the house and into the garden

At an earlier point in the dream, the older brother had been boasting about a trick he played on someone that involved squirting water at some piece of digital wear and short-circuiting it. He thought it was very funny, how the mech-wear had shorted out and sparked and shocked the wearer.

This older brother came out of the house with a gun while we were loading the box into a helicopter to take it away. The gun was high-tech, computer controlled and the computer was a backpack that the man wore. An older woman among us, whom he discounted because of her age and apparent inability to stop him in any way, noticed the computer and a garden hose and she "shot" him with water, scoring a direct hit on the computer and shorting it out. Shorting out his brain as well. LEOs arrived and arrested the younger brother; EMTs were taking care of the elder. They had him strapped him to a gurney to take to treatment when he regained consciousness. He began shouting out everything he knew at the top of his voice ... including the fact that he was going to be a father - the woman he had seduced was pregnant. He'd dropped her when he found out.

As I woke, the group were welcoming the healed man out of the box and were speculating on what would happen to the two brothers. We wondered if their {white supremacist} family would welcome the child of the older brother or repudiate it because of its native American heritage. We thought it would be better for the child if it had nothing to do with them at all.

We had some excitement at work this morning. Around 7:00 the lights went out. At 7:30, I caught a whiff of the smell of burning dust - an electrical burning scent, so I called one of the managers to the front. She discovered that the freezer of the Drive Up and Go department (located in the front) was out. Just before 8, it was clear that the exit chamber was filling with smoke, so we evacuated the store.

Three fire trucks came, one of them a ladder truck so they could access the roof. It was determined that the compressor(?) of one of the heating/cooling units had shorted out. Because of the smoke, we were not allowed to return to the store until just before 9.

My son had a key to the car with him, so we sat in it, out of the wind, which I greatly appreciated since I didn't have my wrap or my gloves. I also did not have the mystery that I've been reading that had just gotten to a really interesting part. I planned to read some during my break but instead ended up filling out an application for the bookkeeper position that is open at the store. I'd like to go full-time because ... well, the new cashier IS full-time and that's cutting into my hours.

I'll confess, I'm not too sure about this because I do very much enjoy being a cashier. I enjoy interacting with the customers and helping them and I REALLY enjoy bagging. It's a puzzle and a challenge and I find it fun. Also, I dislike handling phone duties. OTOH, I'd still be helping customers at the customer service desk; I'd be dealing with math problems; I'd be helping the store (?). And ... full-time.

Timmy took me into the back room to introduce me to the duties of the bookkeeper - he's the front-end manager and the one who gets stuck with the duties when the bookkeeper is out for one reason or another, as she was today. I think he likes the idea of someone else taking over. Unfortunately, he sucks at explaining how to do things.

One final note - it's interesting that my dream this morning involved an electrical short. Illustrates the problems of precognitive dreams - they only make sense in hind-sight and they rarely mean what you think they do.
